Computer Graphics Art Gallery
There isn't much that isn't covered by my Films Page,
computer graphics-wise. Working on all those films didn't leave me much time to do my own thing,
although there are a couple exceptions. There was a couple month stretch between
Jumanji and
Eraser and during this time I joined with several
co-workers on a project called ILMajam. Basically, we were each given a beginning and
ending frame and we could do anything we like in-between, for pretty well however long we liked.
I came up with this 30+ second bit of animation, which Tim McLauglin, a great technical director
(and the person who came up with this creature's second name Lovebug after seeing the
first model lit and rendered). Here are two stills from the final render: Click on any of
the pictures below for a larger, higher resolution image.
These next four pictures come from my sketchbooks...you can see the evolution of the Focer/Lovebug.
Next up, we have a little something that I put together, seeing if this noble ship couldn't get into a certain movie's eight installment...for the beginning battle sequence. You know...there was this big nasty box-thingie attacking Earth. Yes...that movie with the time travel bit and "...draw the line HE-YA" speech. The U.S.S. Tyche was built to ILM specs, nicely bump-mapped and painted...took a good two months, off and on, if I remember correctly. But they said no. Nadda. Thankyouverymuchbut.... Their loss, I think.
Now here's something that came up as a little surprise. I was walking by one of those "Dollar or Two" clearance stores
you see in malls these days, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw something familiar. I walk up and see this kids'
book on sale called "I Am a Droid, by C-3P0", published by Random House. And
inside are a whole bunch of pit droid poses I did while on the Star Wars Image Unit. Keep in mind, I didn't design the 'droids or any of thegear they are carrying, I just did the poses. Amyways, the picture quality isn't that great, but these are cg pieces that are not directly film-related, so here they are....
